A Day of Festive Fluff, Friendship, and Christmas Cheer

Pomeranians Australia celebrates the 2025 Melbourne Pomeranian Christmas Picnic, a magical day of festive outfits, fluffy Poms, and Christmas cheer.

There is something truly magical about seeing a park filled with tiny, joyful Pomeranians, proudly wearing their festive outfits and wagging their fluffy tails as they greet friends old and new. This year’s Melbourne Pomeranian Christmas Picnic, held on 23rd November 2025, was no exception. Despite Melbourne’s famously unpredictable weather keeping us all on our toes, the event turned into a warm, laughter-filled celebration of our beloved breed and the incredible community that surrounds it.

Hosted at the beautiful Mullum Mullum Reserve in Donvale, our annual Christmas gathering brought together Pomeranian lovers from across Victoria. From tiny puppies experiencing their first Christmas to stately senior Poms greeting everyone like royalty, the picnic truly represented the breed’s diversity and charm. Their human parents arrived armed with picnic rugs, festive treats, fold-up chairs, and—most importantly—their love for these little dogs who bring such joy to our lives.

Festive Outfits and Fabulous Fluff

Christmas dress-ups are always a highlight, and this year the Poms did not disappoint. Everywhere you looked, there were red and green harnesses, glittering bows, elf hats, tiny Santa suits, jingling collars, and snowflake-themed bandanas. Some Poms arrived dressed as reindeer, others as elves, and a few rocked their natural coat as their only accessory—because let’s face it, a Pomeranian’s natural fluff is festive enough!

Owners put so much effort into making their dogs look adorable, and the crowd reacted with plenty of “awws,” laughter, and countless photos. Many attendees commented that the picnic felt like walking through a living Christmas card—full of movement, colour, and pure joy.

A Celebration of Community

One of the most wonderful things about the Pomeranian community is how quickly new friendships form. People who arrive knowing no one often leave with new connections, shared stories, and invitations to future playdates. The Christmas Picnic has always been more than an event—it’s a place where people feel welcome, supported, and part of something special.

This year was no different. Human parents chatted about grooming tips, nutrition, favourite vets, coat colours, puppy antics, show achievements, and of course, the unique personalities of their little fluffballs. New puppy owners were delighted to receive advice from long-time Pom people, while experienced owners enjoyed seeing newcomers fall in love with the world of Pomeranians.

Throughout the day, clusters of people gathered under the rotunda, sharing food from the picnic platter table and exchanging festive wishes. Even the brief moments of drizzle didn’t dampen spirits; in true Melbourne fashion, the clouds rolled away just as quickly as they arrived.

Puppies, Seniors, and Everything in Between

Every Pom at the picnic brought their own charm to the day. There were confident, outgoing puppies darting about like fluffy comets. There were calm older dogs who enjoyed being admired during slower strolls around the park. Some Poms preferred sitting comfortably on their owner’s lap, surveying their kingdom with regal poise. And, as always, a few characters kept their humans entertained with mischievous antics—stealing attention, snacks, or even someone’s fold-up chair!

It was especially heartwarming to see several rescued and rehomed Pomeranians enjoying the day with their forever families. The transformation in these little dogs—from uncertain beginnings to thriving, adored companions—is always a powerful reminder of the importance of responsible breeding, knowledgeable care, and loving homes.

Safety First for Our Fluffs

As with all Pomeranian Australia events, safety was paramount. Dogs under 3 months did not attend for their well-being, and all Poms were required to be fully vaccinated and safely secured on a lead or in a puppy pen. These guidelines ensure a calm, controlled environment where everyone can enjoy the day with peace of mind.

The owners were incredibly responsible, ensuring a smooth, stress-free event. The setting at Mullum Mullum Reserve provided plenty of space, shade, and pathways—perfect for our pint-sized companions.

Capturing Memories

Phones and cameras were working overtime! Attendees snapped countless photos and videos, many of which will soon appear on social media, bringing smiles to Pom lovers everywhere. The festive backdrop of red and green decorations, Christmas props, and fluffy dogs posing beautifully made every picture look ready for a holiday magazine.

Many people mentioned how much they look forward to these photos each year—not just to remember the day, but to celebrate the joy Pomeranians bring into our lives.

Looking Ahead to 2026

As the picnic came to a close, the sense of community was unmistakable. Handshakes, hugs, and warm goodbyes filled the air, along with promises to meet again next year. The Melbourne Pomeranian Christmas Picnic continues to grow, year after year, thanks to the wonderful people—like you—who make this community shine.

Despite Melbourne’s unpredictable weather, the day was bright, cheerful, and filled with love. Our Pomeranians brought the sunshine, and their humans brought the Christmas spirit.

We can’t wait to see everyone again in 2026.
Until then, give your little fluff a cuddle from us.
